I haven't paid a bill that high in 5 years. I don't miss them. Plenty of options out there in panels for under $0.80/W. I keep looking at the current pricing and thinking I need to add another 5.6kW array in the backyard.

OK so what am I looking at as far as racking prices?
I'm going to do this its only a matter of time and money. I have a growing collection of treated 4x4 posts and treated 2x6, may do a ground mount and build my own racks. |

I place in Odessa Texas is selling 290w panels for $150 each, just have to come and get them.
The panels plus inverter I'm at pretty close to $1 per watt for grid tie. I have a pretty good size junk collection to make ground mounts for the panels. At those prices I could even afford to put them on single axis trackers. |

Don't know how many kw's you need or if it would be worth a trip to California, but there are a number of good deals in the San Francisco bay area right now. Granted some of these panels are used but at 10 -20 cents/watt it might be worthwhile.

An ABF Freight truck arrived Monday with a pallet (5.6kW) shipped from California, with inverters for less than I paid for just panels on my first array (4.4kW). Going through the panels, checking for damage, this pallet of panels must have been shipped to a California job site, stored outdoors for awhile then sold off as excess inventory. Every panel came with a fine coating of California dust, similar to what I encountered working in San Diego years ago. At under $0.70/W (including microinverters), I'll wash the dust off, mount them, and collect sunshine with them. Freight on the pallet across the US was $500. |
