I finally opened up the package with the new water heater in it. It appears the previous owner had problems with a water valve or something as there was a receipt for a rebuild kit in with the box and some extra parts. It was also a bit beat up. I don't know if that was just from shipping or what though.




The cover was loose (just slips on actually), so I took a peak under the hood. There really isn't a ton of stuff inside these things.

The friend of mine who tipped me off to this problems with these hot water heaters, said he makes almost as much money servicing them as he does installing.
I would think it would be a good idea to install some valves before and after so you can isolate it an add your vinegar or whatever acid they recommend and cycle it through until you get all the lime scale out.

Looks like those two hoses might need to be disconnected to preform the flush..
Or, maybe the designed it to be easily serviced and I just don't see the hookups.
