Fibropool Company
I see these are still selling.. I wonder if anyone has heard, of anybody using one for home or DHW heating yet??
Swimming Pool Heater- Electric Heat PumP-SMALL 55 k BTU | eBay http://site.megapoolandspa.com/Instr...T_warranty.pdf They are still saying "COP= 5.8"... The price seems like about what you would pay for a heatpump DHW heater at Home Depot.. But, it sure seems like a 55,000 BTUh unit is going to be able to provide a bunch more hot water, than a $1,298.00 Rheem EcoSense HP50ES 50 Gal heater.. Just need to supply your own storage tank..

That COP listed of 5.8 probably with an outdoor temp somewhere around 70-80*F. When you're trying to heat a pool to ~85* and your delta T is maybe 30*(pool heatpumps heat a high volume of water a few degrees each pass) that COP doesn't seem so crazy anymore.

Measurement conditions: Outdoor air temp:80 F ,RH 80%,inlet water temp:80 F I'll bet the COP isn't too good down at 14deg F..

Very cool! After looking into it a little further, I think that maybe I could really utilize this heater for my hot tubs. I think it would be for more efficient than what I'm using now, and considering how often I use the them, I imagine that it wouldn't take too long for it to pay for itself. As it is now, the heater that I am using is barely cutting it, and it is very expensive to run. I really appreciate you sharing this, it was a great find for me!

Check this guy out..
Pool heater using recycled air conditioner I think the hardest part of the job was building the HXs.. He's getting a lot of BTU per watt and not even using inverter tech..
