My house is tiny compared to your 3600 sq foot! Mine is only 1080 sq feet over 3 storeys. But then with the internal and external rigid insulation, the solar pv, solar thermal, wind turbine, ashp, rainwater collection and woodburner, it is very cheap to run. So cheap that we actually got investigated by the power company, as everyone else in the neighbourhood uses 10 times what we do.

Well I closed on the house a week ago! All moved in, and a ton of projects in mind.
Most of the house is in excellent shape, and I also took time to make a measurement of where I would like to put a future storage tank, the location is large enough for nearly 3500 gallons! Not sure if I will be building the solar heat this year though, there is an issue with the septic system that is getting investigated later today. Hopefully it just needs to be pumped out, but its possible it might need replacing. I plan on journalling all projects here in the forums, and will probably create a master thread with links to other projects as I start them. Hopefully the septic is all good so I can focus on conservation =) |
