It's mid afternoon here, and power usage must be at a peak..
It's 92 deg F. Which is hot for this area. My Sanyo is currently using 840 watts to keep the house cool. (Normally uses 470w). Around the middle of the last century, we took the wrong path. Maybe it's not too late to get back on track. There is a way.. YouTube - Thorium Remix 2009 - LFTR in 16 Minutes |

Thorium
Those thorium guys have been hitting it hard lately. I have seen a lot on it lately on different sites. Hopefully this groundswell of support will create some political action. I guess we should all write our congressmen/women and tell them to get on board.
I love the mini-split systems. I am going to start replacing my window units with mini-splits this fall. It will at cut my cooling costs in half (I live in the ohh so hot and humid South East) and reduce my heating costs by about 1/3. Last edited by benpope; 09-01-10 at 02:01 PM.. |

If someone wanted to get elected president, they might want to sell thorium reactors..
Once the people find out about them, they are going to demand they be built.. I don't think there is going to be much NIMBY protest against thorium reactors, if people have the facts. ~~~ Depending on the weather, our Sanyo heating cost is about 1/4 to 1/3 of the cost of heating with oil only. August was pretty hot, but our bill was less this year.. 460 kWh and in 2009, it was 635. However, we were not cooling as much last year, and many times, it was just one room in the house. (20,000 BTU in den or 5,000 BTU in bedroom in 2009). My wife loves the Sanyo.. Tells me at least twice on days like this.. |

I wonder if they will ever make small models for ranches and farms way out in the Outback?
