ScienceWiz, if you are going to build something you need to know how it works in order to make a good one. It is pretty clear you don't understand how it works so I suggest you take some time and figure it out. It'll make the whole process a lot easier. Do some googling on generators. There is tons of info out there.

Well I researched some more and decided that an alternator would be the better choice. Using a metal belt you attach this to the alternator and the back wheel if you take off the rubber on the back tire. When you pedal the alternator creates energy and goes to the battery. The only problem is hooking up the alternator to the the battery. Since this is a full battery I can't just start attaching/testig random wires for safety reasons. Does any one know hoe to drain a car battery once it has been removed from the car? I can't add/create energy to store in the battery if it's already full. Any ideas?

Well, how do you plan on using the stored power once the generator is made?

Probably the easiest and most useful thing would be to get a 110V power inverter and use it to power something in your house.

Also, I'm not sure if you're aware, but you want a deep cycle battery (not a car starting battery or a dual purpose marine battery, a deep cycle). If you use a starting battery or dual purpose battery they won't last nearly as long as they aren't meant for that kind of use.

I think a small chain or even a belt would be far better than a friction drive.

how are you? I'm working on bike electric, and i red you idea, was cool and im asking for you can send me all the parts with name and number with all wires i need. also the calculation i need to measure what speed i use and how fast i can go with timing.
also the friction with tire and the current voltage going out all the details.
