Socket won't hold a CFL? Do something about it!
So i know I said something in Daox's CFL thread about not being able to find bulbs to fit the sockets that came with our new ceiling fan.... so, I ripped apart my old ceiling fan, and rewired the new one with the standard socket sizes.
Old sockets Donor Sockets Comparison Some wiring Reinstalled Now... yes, you can see there are actually 2 CFLs and 2 incandescent. and here's why... The voltage across the sensor switch when on Auto doesn't allow ALL CFLs or it hums at me. It's ok when it's set to ON though... Dimmables might work, but for now this is fine. We just run 2 CFLs and one incandescent. So 64 Watts, which is better (and brighter) than 2 incandescents @ 80 watts. Last edited by insaneintenti0n; 10-06-08 at 07:57 AM.. |
