I've seen several good examples with either one of the 2 motors, some with controller some without. I just thought that if you don't need the controller why spend the money.
From what I can find out these motors draw minimal amps with no load, turn aprox. 3600rpm and as load is increased amps increase as it try's to maintain rpm. Without a controller in a hydrostatic tractor, will really make no difference, drive will work the same as the gas version on full power. On a gear drive again it will behave the same as the gas version, and if the motors output shaft is in the same location as the gaser the clutch will work the same. |

It just seems like a motor connected directly to a battery is going to run at full RPMs
when not loaded, and will also pull maximum power when running. It just seems like it's going to run down the battery pack at maximum speed. If you were designing a dragster tractor, then direct hookup would be fine.. |

DC series wound motors will over spin if there is no load on them. Permanent magnet motors self regulate their speed so they only use as much power as they need to maintain whatever rpm they're designed for. Kind of odd, but very handy in an application such as this.

24 to 48 volt dc brushed mower deck motors
I'm looking for a 36 volt, 500 to 1000 watt brushless motor to use for mower deck.
Hustler, n zero n .meangreenproducts. Electric riding lawn mower and others use them on there mower decks. |
