Yup,
I agree, as soon as you flip the switch, you start winning. Here's a spread sheet comparison that compares the contenders du jour over the duration of 50K hours. I figured it for power cost $0.10/kW-hr for ease of localizing cost: Best, -AC

I bought up a crap load of them for in 2007 when CFLs could be had on clearance or sale
for $1/each and when LEDs were first starting to become popular and really expensive. I am still using last decades CFLs. Anything outside, or where a 60w replacement $1 CFL isn't enough is LED now. |

I am so glad the LED are getting cheaper. I dislike CFL so much I have had them fail much sooner that they est. they don’t dim they need to warm up some make noise and put noise on your electric lines.
I bought a bunch of LED @4.95 each price range and I will be adding a few more. Every one of my bedrooms has a ceiling fan with three lights. Before 3 X 60 watt 180 watts. Now 3 X 6= 18 watts This was x six ceiling fans that is a 972 watt saving just there. Last edited by pinballlooking; 10-03-14 at 09:27 AM.. |

I understand, I do, LEDs are great. If you are replacing incandescent lights, go with led. If you are replacing a working cfl its a much longer proposition. All my outdoor lights which run the longest every night are led for the obvious reasons. But my most used indoor lighting might run 6 hours a day, at 50,000 hrs would take 22.83 yrs.
