While writing this article I found out about the 'swing' setting on the LUX thermostats. I happen to have an older LUX thermostat in my house and found that I have the same swing setting. Its not an obvious command and you have to look it up in the manual on how to do it, but I think I should see some savings from increasing my swing setting. It was at 1 degree F (which means +/- 1F) and now its set to 1.5F. This translates to longer furnace on times, and reduced cycling which used to be an issue for me before I did a few other things. It'll be interesting to see if increasing the swing will help even more.
