Freezer seal deicing power redux
The freezer seal deice and anti condensation heater just likes to sit there drawing between 10 and 20 watts of power for what seems like hours on end.
It seems like its on most of the time the compressor is off, that could be where a good portion of the 1kwh per day it uses goes. I was trying to figure out how I might take control of it, a timer, motion sensor, manual switch. They didn't make the door seal power supply real easy to find. Then thought maybe just put the whole thing on a timer. Maybe run it for an hour then off for 2. That would allow it to cool all the way down, do any evap coil defrost cycling it needs to accomplish, run the door seal heater some but not all the freaking time. I think it would also need a manual bypass switch to return it to normal operation after cleaning it out, restocking it or if I needed to freeze something. |
