The horrible workmanship thread
This thread is intended as a fun / blow off steam thread for horrible workmanship you find while doing home improvements. We've all run into it. So, post your own finds!
I'll start out with my most recent beauty. This is the wonderful framing above an exterior door that is a load bearing wall. When I think of this I think TETRIS!

Now that is interesting. Looks like someone had a bunch of odd pieces of scrap wood they wanted to use up. Wow.

5" duct from the furnace into the space between the basement ceiling and the upstairs floor. they removed the rest of the pipe when they put the ceiling up but never bothered to close off the ductwork so the majority of my heating/cooling got dumped into that space... |
