In-Line Wired Noise Filter for TED, can work!

I've never been able to get my TED to update very fast..
Lately it's been updating so slowly, I almost tossed it in the trash.
It was next to useless for looking at real-time power use.

The problem:
TED uses the house AC wiring to send data from the MTU to the RDU (T=Transmitter D=Display).
Noise from CFLs, LEDs, X-10 & Etc, was blocking the MTU signals..

Here's the filter I purchased (and installed per manual) and found ineffective.

One of the other problems I had with the filter was the buzzing noise.
When I checked the white (neutral/ground), it had 0.08 amps of current flow.
The inductors were buzzing, even without a load on the 20A line..
The filter itself is a parasite load..

So, I tried something different. I added a new outlet, with the AC (hot) filtered.
Plugged the TED display(RDU) into the new (filtered) socket and the update started flashing like crazy!

I tested the filter with and without the white neutral wire grounded.
The filtering action was just as good, without the ground (and parasite load). The white wire is unused..

PS:
The current probes are not on the main inputs. I have them around the 240 lines going to my Sanyos.
I see their combined power use.

I'm starting to like my TED again...

These are getting pretty cheap... Not sure if they come with 'footprints' software.

I'm glad that worked out for you.

Personally, I haven't had any issues with my TED and needing a noise filter.

Most people don't, but mine was slow to update when I first installed it..
But, when I went nuts with the CFLs, it got even slower.. And switching to LEDs didn't help..

I think some of the problem might be coming from the local AM radio station.
Anything that has an amplifier, is at risk from WRKO RFI..

I can see the antenna towers, 1.9 miles away. Their signal is very strong here.
Everything has to be well grounded. Our old copper wire phones always
had WRKO playing in the background like Muzak..
Our first cordless phone had WRKO audio so loud, they were worthless.
Returned them to the store.

When you start with a bad situation, and make it worse with CFL buzz,
it's not easy to cure..
