The daily Heating Degree Days here (base 68F) are still pretty mild, as shown by this graph from the closest monitoring station that is 1 mi. away:

I do not heat my whole house, only the room(s) I am active in.

And although I have improved the insulation in my kitchen, as I write this, I am only heating the living room to 68 degrees F (20 C).

My little 9k mini-split is barely ticking over... hardly enough to keep my NO_MOVING_PARTS_TOWEL_DRYER going.

[* EDIT: I just got a call from my hyper-horticultural girlfriend, alerting me to the certainty of hard freeze tonight and tomorrow, so my HDD chart is gonna look different pretty soon. *]
