The heating season definitely isn't over yet, but I definitely have enough data to say that dropping my temperature down further at night and when away is undoubtedly saving me a fair amount, and it has virtually no negative side effect. Despite it being the coldest winter since owning the house, my gas use per heating degree day is still down lower than previous years.
For those who haven't already, go get a programmable thermostat!!!
