Haven't owned one but Sony used to make a version with built in Wifi.

Pretty sure it would easily fit your "low power" needs but the biggest problem (apart from trying to get one) is that I don't think it supports WPA2, meaning your network would be less secure.

Maybe it's time to develop an open hardware version. With a big focus on DIY serviceability, which is much to be said when most devices of that type are substantially less DIY service friendly than the latest iPhone...
