floor's still cold, surprise surprise. but, might be taking longer to cool down after it finally warms (WHEN it finally warms)

anyway, yesterday's project was to attached the heat dish that i wanted to the wall in my kitchen. i had some initial obstacles, and i still have another to overcome.

Here's the heat dish

they're awesome, used correctly. Sitting on the ground, pointing at you. They're 1000W (instead of the 1500W that most space heaters are) and since it's a directed heat, you warm up FAST (not the room so quickly, but it does over time)

They have a built in safefy buzzer. If they get tipped, they go BZZZZZZZZZ. all it is is a button that is pressed when it lays flat. figured that would be no biggy. if it's pushed against the wall it should be fine. well, it is, for the most part, but something about it facing down sets the buzzer off after a certain period of time. so, i eliminated the buzzer.

(Crappy phone pix)

but i just changed the wiring some to take the safety crap out of the system (smart, right?)

this image shows the heater pointed down towards the COLD floor, and you can kind of see the difference in the ceiling heights between that and the ceiling fan

I finally measured the ceilings. 10ft max (it slants, starts around 8', then goes up to 10') in the extension, 8.5ft in the main part.

But, now i have another problem. since heat rises, it's triggering the thermostat VERY fast. For the most part i use these as either On of Off. not medium, low, whatever. So, i might now also bypass the heat monitor (looks to be a piece of ceramic, silicon, or something, that i guess changes resistance as it heats and cools. Not sure what happens if i take that out of the system. I might find out though

Though, of course, I could just buy a radiant heater that's made FOR this (Like this one) but that's $100 - $200, and 1200W - 1500W vs. $60 and 1000W.
