Well, if you want to DIY a Geothermal Heat Pump, you not only came to the right place, you came to just about the only place.
You will find that most of the people here advocate practices that conserve heat, ahead of practices that produce heat... in other words, begin with air leak reduction and then insulate like there is no tomorrow, or more properly, there is no cheap fuel tomorrow.
And, if it is Ground Source Heat Pumps you are into, check out the
Homemade Heat Pump Manifesto. It is pretty long, but has more information specific to DIY Ground Source Heat Pumps than you will find anywhere else on the Internet.
