So , you do not " need " the 500 watts of electric heat , unless the bathroom is on the north side of the house ?
You could just install one or more ceiling lights with LED lamps and put them on another switch .
Turn on the quartz lamps only when you need supplemental light ( or heat ) .
At one time a lot of bathrooms used 250 watt heat lamps .
