Just putting this in here to make sure everybody knows...
The breaker for your HVAC device needs to be a
bit less than the Locked Rotor Amps (AKA: LRA). This is the worst case scenario when the compressor's rotor is unable to turn, but still has
FULL ELECTRICAL POWER applied. This situation
MUST trip the breaker switch, or terrible things will happen.
The breaker also needs to be big enough to allow the HVAC equipment to run under full load.
The installation instructions will spell all of this out for you.
Unfortunately, this is one situation where you DO need to read the instructions.
This is very important.
