Are you using PEX or copper? If it's metal plumbing that should be a solid ground.
No way should you have dangerous voltage on your A7.
The Hot side of the AC line going to ground would be cause major current.
Something has gone wrong inside the box or it wasn't wired correctly from the factory.

Put a VOM on the AC plug. Check it for a low reading to the A7 copper HX and the
ground pin on the plug.
If that's good, make sure that both voltage plug/pins have high resistance to ground.
