That contactor will work. If you want to save some money you might check ebay for contactors from a forklift. That is what I am using in my mower. Just pay attention to the coil voltage. I am using a contactor with a 12V coil, but its no an issue since I have a charger for each battery. If you had a 48V charger that coil would unbalance the pack over time.

I think you should either go battery or diesel. Doing a combination is not only much more expensive, but also much more complex and less efficient.
