I'm a fan of the 5000 btu units due to their extreme affordability. Most all use r-22 and have extra space in the case. The larger ones are more expensive and tend to be crowded inside. If you need more capacity, just parallel the units. You can even leave them sealed up and submerge a hx in water if you want to. There's lots of slack in the plumbing.
