I know what you mean.. That's one reason I think people who own some GTI PV,
should also be able to hook up a fueled generator to their house and trick the GTIs into working.

But, the occurrences of power failures around here are becoming less and less.
I think all those CFLs are reducing the load, or the gird is better maintained these days.

The failures on my street are hardly ever more than an hour or two.

My battery back-up system should keep us from being flooded with rain or snow-melt water.

And if another 100 year ice storm hits and we are off the grid for weeks,
we might be able to eek by using 500w of solar recharge,
the 5kW gas generator and burning some wood for heat.
