I admire your tenacity in trying to make your Sanyos do what you want them to do in spite of their limitations.
However, jeff5may has identified a model of Mitsubishi that will continue to work well down into the temperature range that is proving to be so vexing for you.
You have accumulated a lot of knowledge about just what conditions you are facing, and exactly how much heat you are losing. Apparently, seriously upgrading your insulation will never be an option for you, so...
Perhaps it is time to upgrade your heating system with more modern Mitsubishi(s) and sell your Sanyos to someone who is in a slightly warmer climate.
