Whiteroofproject.org has a great guide on their site for those who need some help with the A/C. It goes over the benefits of painting your roof white, as well as going through how do calculate how much paint you'll use, and how to actually do it too. They even claim an up to 40% reduction in electricity costs.

I'd highly consider this if I weren't in such a cold environment.
