The people that I know who have businesses in this area are busy and have trouble finding people to hire so they don't advertise, the people that they are looking to hire should have experience, if that is hands on with renewable energy, an engineering back ground, having taken classes from an accredited renewable energy education school or organization and some hands on problem solving skills.
Any of those skills are going to help, I've taken classes from the-mrea.org and the certification you can get from that place will help a great deal, otherwise an electrical background helps alot, being an electrition who is interested in working with renewables will land you a job for sure, having an engineering degree can help if you have a basic understanding of renewables, hands on skills are priceless, more so if you fallow direction well and don't make mistakes.
