Why? Just turn it on and the coils will heat up enough to dry out quickly. In fact, the evaporation will slightly increase efficiency

What temperature is your basement? I defrost/clean my fridge when it's
really cold outside, so I can put the frozen stuff outside and the refrigerated stuff in the basement.
