Default MPPT at each solar panel

At the 2011 Midwest Renewable Energy Fair I saw for the first time a Maximum power point tracking (MPPT) that fit to the back of each solar panel, I've seen the MPPT that my parents have on their array boost the output above the labeled rated output many times along with allowing them to run a higher voltage wiring saving the cost of wire and the cost of extra panels to cover the losses, it all works quite well! so I was excited to see their solar panels on the EV charging station car port using this brand new MPPT device, I was told that the cost is about the same as having a central inverter but that install is a little extra because of the multiple devices that get wired in thing is the end output apparently is at or above the rated output of the panels while outperforming a central MPPT with an inverter next to it.
