Great write up and overview of tools/parts!

I'll reiterate what you just said about the wet rag. I do this all the time, and one must be careful as the water on the rag can flash off to steam with your hand holding it. I tend to think "oh, I'll be fine" and slightly drape/squeeze the joint and try to stay out of the steam bath, but it only takes once to make a big impression if you brain fart.

Use the gloves.
