I hate weevils
Wow, that sounds pretty nice! (Except for the 'Red palm weevil')!
Today we've got snow, rain & ice all over the place.
Ever since the day I slipped on ice and destroyed my right ankle, ice...

That Sanyo is in the open, but it's installed next to a wall and there is no way
that direct sunlight could get back there and into the sensor.
Sanyo #2 is on the north side of the house and it's...

tested in dark conditions and under hazy sunlight
Hooked up the voltmeter to the signal output and found there wasn't very
much interference from hazy sunlight directly on the sensor.
I believe the sensor lens would have to be aimed directly at...

TCRT5000 part test
I used the humidity input on the CAI board to read the optical detector with the circuit above.
The range using a mirror was about 2.25". When I inserted foggy plastic
between the mirror and...

I wasn't able to find much info on the Debron 1052 Optical Sensor,
But, it's a good example of an emitter-detector open-gap sensor.
These sensors are commonly used to detect solid material...

Optical detector 'optical frost sensor'?
For my systems, I would need a detector to work down to -15 C, so measuring temperatures to detect ice would be difficult.
But seeing ice isn't hard at all. :)
Here are two examples.
Frost...
