Congratulations!
Is it live? |
I had to turn it on to test it, and everything worked. I had to turn it back off after testing.
Officially, I can't be producing power until after the local power utility stops out and does an "Anti-Islanding Test". Hopefully, they'll come out soon! |
Woohoo, congrats Ben! Looks great.

Here's a video/slideshow of putting up the solar panels.
Pretty hard to hold a video camera, film, work, and not fall off the roof at the same time, so I was usually grabbing a few phone snap-shots while I was on the roof, and somebody else shot a little video from the ground. Going up high in a lift with a video camera is fun too! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wn7GnolfZ94 |
Ben,
Looks great! Congratulations. Steve |
The solar is LIVE!
Solar is LIVE! You can see actual production at: https://enlighten.enphaseenergy.com/...13167/overview |
Nice… it is sure great seeing your array making power.
If you go to other sites they just want to tell you not to self-install solar. This site is not that way at all and it is so cool to see another array up and running self-installed. DIY saves so much money and the payoff is lots quicker. Adding a EV to the mix also really helps a fast payoff and clean living. |
Very cool Ben Awesome.

Here's some irony for you...
The ONE THING that a grid-tie setup DOESN'T do is that it will NOT produce power from the solar panels during a blackout. I was working super-early today, with the upside being that I was back home at 10:30 AM. I noticed that it the streets were all wet when I got back home. Sure enough, a thunderstorm had rolled through the area and knocked out the power. My house was in a blackout, and my solar panels were NOT producing power. But that's okay. Watch the video to see why. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miNBGQjl75E |
