My kind of place! newb from PNW
Been studying up on alternate heating sources. Found this place on a Google search of DIY geothermal heat pump.
Had to sign up right away! Excited about what I'll find here. Getting sick of wood stove/propane heat. Love cutting chopping wood when I want to not when I have to. :D Off to read threads now! |
Welcome to the site nonhog.
Perhaps you could tell us a bit more about the building you're heating? |
Well I have a 1700 sq ft home with a atrium in the middle with 20' high wall on one end (see avatar) that is not heated. I'm heating the house with wood
as much as possible and have a propane furnace. (I try not to run $$$$) Thinking about floor heat in the atrium. It use to be home to a hot tub. Considering all options. I like the idea of more than one system. Also have a shop 1200 sf footprint currently have a small electric heater. (G73 Dayton) |

You will find that most of the people here advocate practices that conserve heat, ahead of practices that produce heat... in other words, begin with air leak reduction and then insulate like there is no tomorrow, or more properly, there is no cheap fuel tomorrow. And, if it is Ground Source Heat Pumps you are into, check out the Homemade Heat Pump Manifesto. It is pretty long, but has more information specific to DIY Ground Source Heat Pumps than you will find anywhere else on the Internet. Good luck and welcome to EcoRenovator! -AC_Hacker |
