DIY solar hot air panel
I to have been working on a Solar heating project . But instead of for the shop it is actually for the home. Thanks to Ac hacker i found this spot here. Started today. Hope to be finished with the panel later tonight. Forgot tin screws. I am doing the one with screen. Not just an empty box.

Finished the panel Tested it yesterday with a nice sunny day. Without a fan just a duct goin into the house it syphonin inside from heat. It got up to 197 degrees. Thats hot . Got to seal it off good And put in a good fan . Anyone know a fan that puts out enough to keep th pannel cooler.

Its 64 sq ft. From what i understand thats supposed to be able to heat 640 sq ft for a window . I have mine on a angle Usin this calculator
Solar Angle Calculator | Solar Panel Angle Calculator 43 degrees on january And 51 degrees for Febuary I put it at 48 degree slope Figured that sun moves 8 degrees a month. So 124 cfm fan should be just fine Im guessin. The hardest part was crawlin under the house and runnin a vent. |
I would look at the arduino threads on this forum for a control that will vary the fan speed based on the panel temp. It would be a good control for your system.

Ive got a snap disk controller 90 off 110 on to controll the fan I just have to install it Ill see if i can find that thread though. Not real familur with the site yet.

Does any one know how much cfm that a 4 inch pvc pipe will handle and a 2 inch pipe will handle . Im going to do the rest of the house through the walls i ant gettin under that house again. And pipe is cheaper.
My panel is 64 sq ft Im runnin vents to 3 rooms Put a fan prob 125 or 150 cfm fan on the top outlet suckin air through th panel and blowin it through 2 or 4 inch pvc to th house |
Hello nokiasixteth. I moved your posts off to their own thread since its kind of a different topic than the one you had posted in. It should get more attention here too.
Here is some info on CFM and duct sizing: CFM's per duct size |

Looked at them . Found out accordin to that 40 cfm is all a 4 inch duct can handle accordin to that place. My fan may be a bit to strong for the 4 inch. Found a 120cfm 12 v fan ill prob put inside the panel and suck the air through the panel and push it to the house that a way. |
