Vets get 10% off at Home Depot

At least that's what I discovered this morning at the Home Depot in Reading MA.

I've heard that Lowes does the same thing, but have not checked them out yet.

So, if you are a DIYer US military veteran (or on active duty),
take some ID or discharge papers the next time you are buying stuff
for your projects..

Cheers,
Rich

PS:
This may not be news to you, but it is to me! :)

Now if I can just find my DD214.

I had an old Xerox copy of my discharge. I folded it up and put it in my wallet.
So, when the lady was ringing up my stuff, I asked about 10% off for vets.
She said sure, and punched in -10% , before I even had time to get out my Xerox.
She looked it over for a while and said have a good day sir..

I wish that I had known about this last year when I was buying all kinds
of insulation and other stuff.. And the year before, when I just had to
have that 5KW generator.. :o

I hope they start selling those PV panels and inverters etc in the local stores..
Right now, that stuff is On-Line only..

Hey, I just found this. Do you have to have your DD214?

I found out after spending a ton of money at Lowes that they give a 10% military discount, active or retired. All you have to do is show your military ID card. I asked and they said my wifes dependent retired ID card gets the same discount. {I realize you said vet, not active & retirees.}

LOL! I felt like I had lost a few bucks too. I found out from a friend and didn't
believe him at first.. It's like saving almost double the sales tax!

Yeah, I said "DIYer US military veteran (or on active duty)", but forgot about
those old retired GI vets. Maybe I was thinking they get so much money
in their retirement checks, they don't need no stinkin discount.. ;) LOL!

I have saved a small bundle on stuff at Lowes and HD this summer.
If the purchase is over $10, I produce my discharge copy,
and normally by the time I get half unfolded, the clerk says thank you..

I think Ace Hardware & Sears should start doing the same thing!! :D

I asked at Marvins last weekend, and they give 10% off to military (and retiree's) as well. I'm liking this!

I had never hear of the chain. It looks like they are a growing biz.
Nice you have one right there in Arab. Most are south of you.

I'm starting to get into the habit of asking if stores give discounts to vets or seniors.. ;)
Most of the time it gets a laugh. But it might make them think.

Anywho, when I go to Lowes or HomeDepot, it's like everything is on sale at 10% off, just for me..
Saves me the sales tax, gas to the store and provides some pizza & beer money!

Lowes does as well, at least I know they do it for Active Duty. I went a couple of weeks ago and the cashier spotted my ID when I pulled out my debit card and automatically gave me the discount. Pretty cool if you ask me.

Vets, reservist & active duty

Thank you for your service sir!

I like Lowes, since they are right here in town, and it's a few more miles to HD.
If you do a lot of home repairs etc, that 10% does add up.

They give me a hard time because I DEROS'ed (sp?) in the '70'S...no paperwork or DD214.
