Is there a way to get rid of and/or discourage these people who leave ads on various (often 2 or 3 or 4) sub-forums? I come here because of the great community full of diverse knowledge and experience and these ad-tacks/barrages take away from that (IMO).

You're telling me. :) Just use the 'report post' button and the mods/admins will get to it as soon as we're notified. The security is already tighter than I'd like for new users to register (its kind of a pain and I have had people complain about it too).

I forgot about the report button. What exactly happens after that?

It sends an email to all the admins and moderators notifying them.

At which point the admins have options? Delete the thread/post, ban user(s), etc.?
