Thanks for posting that Xringer. I hadn't seen those yet. I'll be watching this thread. I've been using several Cree regular round bulb 9W models for months with no regrets (even in a dusk to dawn application).

Those CFL floods we are using now, are labeled as 65w equivalent, and they don't seem like they are making 50W.
I'm very temped to order some of these, but I'm not sure if that 65w is going to be enough.
The price of each in the 4 pack is still not that sweet at $17.47 ..

Did you see the 5000K (daylight) versions? Slightly more money, but maybe they will seem brighter?

I've been doing some reading, about bugs..
http://ecorenovator.org/forum/lighti...like-leds.html

And I'm starting to think 2700K might be better for outdoor use.
If they don't attract as many bugs, a little less light is okay.

Some of the HD reviews compare the brightness to other blubs.

In one review there is a side-by-side picture.

And the same review shows that you are right about the brightness of the 5000K.

They forgot to put some packaging in the package...

Not too happy with HP right now..

That little cardboard display stand was the only packing material..

I like the CREE bulbs and I the wife hates the blue, longs for the look of the incandescent. I hope the price is a good here, most things are a bit more. What the hell, it pays for my health care, haha.

Thanks for reminding me.. I see the credit on my card, I can order again.
This time, I'll pick up at the store and inspect them there..

What I didn't know last time, was they had single units in stock!
They could have replaced them all.. Next time I'll have more luck.. ;)

I think the 2700k color has more yellow in it. Might look more like an incan lamp.
I really don't care, I want these for outdoors.. :)

Second shippment came today!!

Here's a security cam video of the actual UPS delivery..
(I taped this right off the TV monitor used with the security system).

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...psc8761f7c.jpg

An odd thing happened, the UPS guy hands me a box and the bottom fell open.
When he walked up, he was holding his left hand under the carton..

All the LED bulbs hit the sidewalk..
One end had a single thin piece of tape holding it on and the other end
had a been taped at one time.. But not today..

One of the flood lights was very badly broken and I didn't waste much time before I decided to call 'shipment refused'.. :(

I half expected HP to try to package the 4-pack a little better..
But, I was wrong.. Maybe I should just wait until they go on sale in the stores.
