Social Distancing from 6 feet, out to 30 feet?

https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...rticle/2763852
"Peak exhalation speeds can reach up to 33 to 100 feet per second (10-30 m/s), creating a cloud that can span approximately 23 to 27 feet (7-8 m). "

No wonder this stuff is spreading so fast. Maybe You can get it from someone just across the street.
I was wondering about walking outdoors, is it safe to walk Down-Wind of people?
If I can smell perfume (up-wind) from 30 to 50 feet up the street, I'm sure that's too close.

We need to change our Social Distancing from 6 feet, out to 30 feet. If there isn't any wind!
If you are downwind from someone who coughs up COVID19, it all depends on the wind speed.

After hearing this, I don't even want to be driving past any large groups of people. The car's air filter isn't that great.

I wish we had this information back in January. There is actually some earlier studies that should have alerted the governments that 2 meters was too dam close..

Do you still think this needs to be adhered to given the success of the vaccines?

I just got my booster shot yesterday, because it's been over 6 months since I had my second shot.
Also got the flu shot and I've been feeling beat all day. Too done in to take a walk around the block this cool New England evening.

I think my expectations of vaccine success were too optimistic.
But, the Israeli study tells me that we may be pretty well protected from landing in ICU.
I dislike the fact that even after 3 jabs, I can still get sick (and maybe die) from covid.

Your question about 'Social Distancing' is important to most seniors (I'm 75).
It seems the Delta version of covid is super contagious.
Many doctors now believe it's going to impossible to avoid the Delta.
They think that Everyone is going to get Delta, sooner or later.

Good N95 masks and good Social Distancing is going to be a must,
if you aren't protected by antibodies from previous infection, or vaccinated.
Those precautions might allow you to pick the time frame when Delta finds you.
(I just ordered more N95 masks).
Since my wife and I have the triple-jab, it might be better to get the Delta
this fall, before the protective Booster shot starts to wear off. Next summer?
If we get a low grade infection, it might be mild enough to avoid hospitalization.
If that's the case, we might be able to enjoy next summer above ground.. :)

Good Luck,
Rich

Yeah, we thought the old Delta version of covid was super contagious.
But we had no idea!

If you have Omicron and the mask makes your glasses fog up, you just gave Omicron to everyone within 10+ feet of you.. :(

Maybe it was from the sneezing fit I had last night, or maybe the little cough that I've had for a few days. Yesterday I had most(4) of the symptoms. This morning I woke up with a Sore Throat. I have "difficulty swallowing" and it hurts. That makes Five..

Runny nose
Headache
Fatigue (either mild or severe)
Sneezing
Sore throat

Maybe this is just a psychosomatic reaction to Ex-Vice President Biden's speech about getting death for Christmas.?.

If you don't hear from me in 2022, you'll know I got the Placebo jabs instead of the vax.. :(

Happy Xmas and Merry New Year,
Rich<><

get tested!

We had antigen tests on hand for an upcoming christmas party with family. Wife and I have cold symptoms similar to yours, so I used one of the antigen tests this morning. It was negative. There are colds about too.
Quit fretting and go get an antigen test kit.

My grandson might have picked up this 'cold' at school. His parents have it too.
They tested negative and assured me, that I've just got a cold.
My symptoms are much weaker this morning. Just need one aspirin. :)
Thanks,
Merry Christmas!

There's a lot of covid speculation about the quick massive spike and drop of Omicron, with a very small number of deaths. (See UK data) Some people think this is the end of the pandemic. :) Maybe we can avoid a second booster Jab?

I have had this omicron-like cold for about a month now. Looking at a post from last March, I think maybe I'm getting a seasonal omicron-like cold every winter now.

Anyways, the US government might get over it's panic over the OMICRON Winter of death, disunion, boredom & etc, during the next few years. But I'm not holding my breath..

Cheers,
Rich

quick update on the holiday get together.
Wife and I never got good enough to go, and then the whole thing was cancelled due to several exposure events with some of the main organizers.
Now we are talking about visiting our UK friends in August. Hopeful that it won't be a sheeit show.
