Redneck - how about figuring out how much energy you would get from 2000 kg (car weight) going down a 100 foot (33 meter) hill?

P.E. = m X g x h

m = 2000 kg, g = 9.81 m/s^2, h = 33 m
P.E. = 647460 J

Assuming it takes the car 60 seconds to travel down the hill and there is 100% conversion:
P = E/T
P = 10.791 kW
Assuming 50% conversion (after friction and conversion losses), you are looking at 5 kW.
