I hate winter...

...the end.

Ladies and gentlemen, a man of few words:

HIGGY

:p

Piwoslaw 01-28-14 02:53 PM

Higgy has point there, but...
I have found it hard to go cross-country skiing before work during the summer;)

Higgy 01-28-14 03:25 PM

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. I'm thinking it will make millions as a best seller. I've copy written it so you can't steal it.

:D

Bah to skiing. Bah I say!

TimJFowler 02-03-14 02:27 PM

In rebuttal...

May I bring to mind that in your area winter is indicated by your calendar and perhaps a certain feeling of briskness.

If you want some snow you could contact my in-laws who live in Michigan. This morning they had -28C (-19F) and if they send you 2 feet of snow they have over 3 feet left for themselves. Not sure about package and posting though : -)

It can be a surprise to some folks, but Santa Fe is at 7000 feet (2100+ meters) elevation in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. We actually get winter here. :D

The logistics of shipping snow is usually an issue.

Says the person who lives in New Mexico. :P

If you want more snow, you can take the freezing cold we get along with it. That's the tradeoff. :D

I'll take the Canadian cold only if I can get single-payer healthcare too!

Wow that's cheap. I think when I retire that's where I want my second home.

My wife and I are thinking of going their next winter. My sister in law said there's some place in Costa Rica where people live really long lives. Some "blue area" of costa rica? Not really sure.

ecomodded 02-06-14 03:32 PM

I actually LOVE the winter.

I live on Vancouver island which happens to be the mildest place in Canada , it is currently having a record mild and dry warm winter -
I will add its not by chance I live here its by my common sense or more directly my displeasure with freezing waist deep snow and driving ice storms..

pinballlooking 02-06-14 03:40 PM

I dislike winter and the cold. I can’t wait until summer. This Jan was one of the coldest months in a long time. I certainly could do without this very cold weather.

greif 02-10-14 07:14 PM

We have had 46 days this winter season dec-jan-feb, with below zero temps, tomorrow makes 47.... no I can't take it anymore

MN Renovator 02-10-14 08:56 PM

greif, I think we're at about the same number of days with sub-zero temperatures here in the next state over with about 2 weeks worth of days where we've been double digit below zero. It is getting old fast.

greif 02-10-14 10:18 PM

sad part if it is 5 degrees and not windy I actually think wow it's nice out

Daox 02-11-14 07:36 AM

Haha, I was just thinking the same thing the other day. It got up to 20F and was sunny, It was SOOO nice out haha.

Last night, the forecast was for 9F minimum, so I programmed the Sanyos
to turn off and set the oil burner to turn on.. Went to bed..

This morning, I saw the local chart..

http://ecorenovator.org/forum/attach...1&d=1392696234

It bottomed out at 7AM, and it never got down under 11 degs all night! I wasted a few gallons of oil..
(This is the second time I've been tricked by the forecast)!

~~~~
Now, look at the right side of the chart for tonight.. Yeah, at 11PM it's 6 deg F!
Accuweather still says it's going to stay above 12F all night!!
Woburn Hourly Weather - AccuWeather Forecast for MA 01801
~~~~~~~11pm 12am 1am 2am 3am 4am 5am 6am
Temp (°F) 15° 15° 15° 13° 12° 12° 13° 13°

I'm reading 9.6 F right now, and I've got the oil burner started up again..

Another miss for Accuweather! More like Accuweasels!! :mad:

If you wait until mid-summer to top off the oil or whatever the cheapest time to buy the stuff is, what sort of price does it come for each gallon? How much do you figure you'll need?

greif 02-18-14 06:29 AM

Who would have ever thought 12 degrees is cause to celebrate?

I'm running out of room to push snow, I start at banning of season by pushing it back about 30 ft back on the lawn and now I'm back up to the driveway...... so 30 ft of 4 ft deep piles yuck

It's a 275 gallon tank, so I'm thinking of investing in around 100 to 140 gallons. (depends on the rest of the winter).
It's about $4 a gallon right now. So maybe $3.50ish?

Not me.. I figured that Global Warming would make this old Texan happy.. Nope. :(

We've been able to clear back the new storms each time. Plus we've had
some melting. Only 1-2 feet on the northside roofs. 1-3 feet in the front yard.
But I think the pileup is about 88% heavy ice.
We have to think of each snow fall an emergency clean up job.
Because, if we don't get on it right away, it could stay there until late April..

We've had much deeper snow before, but this time, trying to get over all the,
Ski Mogul bumps, and sinking down way over my old knees, makes me wish
those solar panels were closer to the house.
(Clean panels=Free Hot H2O)..

Well, the crap is falling again.. NWS Enhanced Radar Mosaic: Northeast Sector Loop
Looks like another day of snow.. :mad:
