Running monthly electricity useage
I'm going to keep track of it in this thread; as jobs get done hopefully this number will get smaller and smaller :D
September 20 - October 21, 2009 -- 4198kwh October 21 - November 21, 2009 -- 1970kwh Now that's a drop I can get behind...! I'll have to dig up the bills for August - Sept and July - Aug. Of course, I disconnected an ancient fridge in the basement, and bought a new energy star model for the kitchen. The new one uses 1/8th of the power the old one did. Charlie |
Awesome start. You've cut your monthly usage in half in one month. Now to give an idea of how far you have to go.
November 2008 previous 12 month usage: 4119KWH November 2009 previous 12 month usage: 2636KWH Yes, those are yearly totals. That said, your carbon footprint is probably a lot lower than mine. My heating is natural gas and yours is presumably electric (hydro). |
Oh my, 2600kwh per year? Congrats! :) ...and there's no way I could do that without extensive investment in solar or wind power. :D
You're correct, everything here runs on hydro, no natural gas on the acreage ;) Lots of potential for the previously mentioned wind turbines though... oh, for lack of money... Charlie |
That is very impressive knowbodies.
Keep working on it Charlie, it'll get lower over time. You can't do everything at once. :) |
