When does Spring start?

(On this day last year, at midnight, it was 62.4 °F.. 22.6°F warmer).

I want my Spring Break! I want to turn off the heat!

Is Bill Nye Blaming Big Oil ?

Xringer 05-29-14 10:48 PM

I'm not sure. I think he might be blaming the 'global warming deniers',
AKA those people who are trying to rename it as 'climb-mate change'..
ie: Selecting a different person to go rock climbing with you?

We didn't have much spring here. The weather went from cold to hot in less than a month. We've been having highs in the upper 80's to lower 90's for weeks already.

It would be nice if climate change could be remedied as easily as hijacking a discussion thread.

I had dinner with a couple who spent years as volunteer workers in the South Pacific Islands. They recounted how the rising sea level has been affecting some of the lower islands, causing salt water to foul the natural, scarce fresh water supplies, which not only ruins the drinking water, but also makes agriculture impossible.

Looking at the trend, it's going to get worse..

Yup.

This is the second from last paragraph in that paper:
Quote:

There is a need to urgently reduce the emission of greenhouse gases if we are to avoid the most extreme sea-level rise scenarios. A major question is whether we will pass a critical point during the 21st century that will lead to an ongoing and, possibly irretrievable, melting of the Greenland or west Antarctic ice sheets and a sea-level rise of several metres. Our current understanding of ice-sheet dynamics is insufficient to predict whether any such large rise would occur in a few centuries or over many centuries to millennia.
