Bad news

Last Monday , someone rear ended my Wife , while driving our 2012 Nissan Leaf . He got the ticket . In the process of dealing with his insurance company . :-(

Do not know if the Leaf will end up being totaled or not ? If it is totaled , thinking about trying to lease a 2016 Nissan Leaf S . Pretty attractive pricing .

God bless

Same thing almost happened to me last sunday while about 400 miles from home some dip stick driving a pickup was playing on their phone rolled right into the back of my VW while sitting at a light. Didn't do any damage worth fixing. I got lucky.
I am pretty sure they stopped and then started paying on their phone and took their foot off the brake.

Hope all is going to be ok health wise. I am interested in buying the wrecked Leaf if it is totalled. I have a 2012 and could use the parts. I hear that a lot of the electric cars get totalled since there is a more complicated process in repairing them. Painting them is one problem. Please contact me if that is a option to you.

Glad to hear (in another thread) that nobody got hurt. It still baffles me that all these people that wreck into my old saturns walk away with catastrophic damage to their vehicles. Mine just drives away with another scuff or scratch. I've never been in any high-speed collisions in any of them, though I've been hit lots below about 20-30 mph.

As far as the insurance companies are concerned, they always want to total my gas-saver. Sometimes they want to throw me too much money to keep the car, so I just let them have it and find another. The last one was a 95 sl2. Some lady in a shiny new Kia had to have the turn lane at a light, and cut me off doing about 15 mph. I swerved and tried to not hit her in the 15 feet i had, and ended up crushing about 18 inches of the thing all the way to the rear wheel. The mushroom fasteners on my front bumper cover broke, along with the styrofoam spacer between it and the actual bumper. It bent her rear axle and wheel. I drove away after a stiff pull on the spoiler, she needed a tow truck.

The insurance company offered me $2500 for that car, so it went away and was replaced with an 02 sc2. I had enough money left over to put new tires on the vehicle. It has since paid for itself in gas savings and has done damage to other cars trying to kill it on the road. The last insurance company only wanted to give me $300 more to total it, so I still own it. That time, the car got a swift kick in the rear bumper cover to pop out a smashed in corner section. For $1200, I can live with some spider-webbed paint. The honda that hit me wasn't so lucky... it bled green and red stuff on the road.

Hope you enjoy good fortune with the insurance adjuster.

I have to admit I know next to nothing about Saturn s .

If they decide to repair it , then we will go back to as before . I just put 4 new tires on it and had front alignment . A few other odds and ends .

If they total it , I certainly hope I get back what I have in it . We bought it ( used ) in June .

I also have the cost of the Level 2 - 240 VAC EVSE and the new electrical ( which I did myself ) .

If I end up with another plug-in , that will be put back to use .

From a dollars and cents point of view , we would be better off if we did not replace it . At least for a while .

Now , insurance companies . Please do not get me started ! :-(

Silver lining. If it is totaled, and you can purchase it back for an ultra low price, you have either a spare Leaf battery pack or inexpensive home battery storage.

Maybe that"s a good thing. Do you have pictures of the damage? I am curious as to what would total a Leaf.

Wow it is taking them a long time. Did they give you a rental while you wait?
