Extreme bird attack

I saw the mess a few minutes after the attack.
Made a quick video* and then spent 20 minutes blasting the mess with a water hose..
(*I didn't think anyone would believe what a single bird did, in a single pass).
Didn't want to wait until the sun baked it.. :eek:

That is from ONE bird?!?

Yeppers, it happened very quickly too. It must have been a goose, since birds just
don't fly in bomber formations..

I knew for sure that my wife wouldn't believe me, so I made a quick movie..

Musta been one very sick bird..

I think that bird was in fighter formation then made a low pass and refreshed himself but good.
I think birds have senses of humor so this may well of been a planned attack or he knew nobody would believe him unless he could prove it,haha.

Birds do seem to target cars. I've seen it many times. Wash the car, go out and find it's been bird bombed..
Then, you check the whole driveway. It's clean as a whistle. Yeppers, they aim at cars.. :(

My wife's new car was bombed about 30 minutes after it was washed.. (One hit just below the rear-view mirror)..

Droppings good thing you were not sitting on the deck at the time.
If this tends to happen a lot, I would paint the deck white.

Not a lot.. Never seen anything like it before. Normally they just fly up and squat on the rails,
walk to the nearest corner, and dump their load. Rain normally takes care of it.

This one was UFO strange. I've seen people dive-bombed by Sea Gulls, with pretty large loads.
But never have I seen anything like this one. Must have been a very sick Goose..?.

Birds of Prey!
 

2.36 seconds after the deck renovation railing job was done, a group of
birds started landing on east and west corners of the railing, and dropping some droppings.
(This is typical, they have been doing this daily for about 25 years).

Within another 48 hours, I removed two brand new Owls from their Amazon box.

I've hung both Owls in the east and west corners, down close to the deck planks. (Both are visible in the pic).
Had to add a few oz of counter weight to the tails to level them off.
As the wind blows, they slowly spin around. When the wind slacks off,
the mono fish line, slowly unwinds and they spin back the other way.

When sitting out on the deck, it's very creepy to see those weird eyes very slowing moving between the balusters. :eek:
I hope we can get used to seeing those cold yellow predator eyes!!

I drilled holes in two other 4x4, so the Owls can be moved in closer
to the north stairs (assuming the birds start to wise up).

Anyways, it seems really quite out back now. None of the smaller birds
want anything to do with spinning Owls.. The larger birds land in the trees,
and squawk at the Owls, but maintain their distance.
They don't even bomb the Solar panels anymore.
Those panels used to be one of their favorite targets..

It's also strange to look around the backyard and not see a single rabbit.
They all seem to have migrated to the neighbors yards.
I did see a chipmunk two days ago, but not one squirrel.

Hard to believe these plastic owls, spinning on mono fish line could be so effective..
Time will tell..

So far so good... No birds in sight. Zero wildlife around the deck.
There is one rabbit that nibbles on the lawn about 35 yards away.
But he always keeps one eye on the Owls.. Seems very nervous.

Yesterday, a Red-tail Hawk was over-flying the backyard. I guess he saw one of the owls
turning, because he hooked a hard right into the woods.
Flying at high speed between the trees.
He landed about 50 yards into the woods, and seemed to be watching the Owls!
