How much electricity do you use?

So how much electricity do you use in a given month on average?

I'm curious and plus this can help others to better understand where they are on their electrical use. Please vote in the poll and explain in a reply if you want.

I use an average of 200 kWh a month. To me this is insanely high. It jumps a little in summer since I DO use a small window AC unit when it gets REALLY hot. In the winter it tends to drop a little.

I could probably save another 30 kWh off by being stingier with some things. I may be frugal but I do enjoy some luxuries from time to time lol.

My average since owning my home is 358 kWh/month. It dips down to the low 200s in spring and fall and back up in winter and summer to the low 400s. While that is a TON of power, I think its on the low end for the US.

I have an electric hot water heater which is where most of my usage comes from.

I am in the 500+, as I have an EV. However, I have this connected to 4kw of solar pv, so in summer, my production is 10kw a day more than my usage. My imported electric is maybe 100kw a month on average. My home is small by American standards, at only 1100 sq feet.

From 12/16/2014 to 6/17/2015 my usage was 330kwh, 55kwh for those months.
For the past 30 days I've used 160kwh because I've used the air conditioning to keep things comfortable and to keep the dew point low enough to prevent mold in the basement.
It's funny how the past 30 days has been half the usage of a 6 month period.

I'm confident I can close out this year with under 1200kwh usage for the year in the 50-100kwh average usage category. This won't be possible if I get a roommate.

In the future I'm planning to add extra shade to the 'sunny in the evening' side of the house and install a mini-split 9k or 12k heat pump with an excellent HSPF and some super SEER figure and use that instead of the 8.5 SEER 1980's 2 ton Junkitrol that I've been using. I'm also planning to go the super insulation route and then I'll probably ditch the natural gas because it will be cheaper to be fully electric versus paying the fixed fees to be connected. I'll eventually electric car at some point too.

Basically I'll go from very little usage to a pile(relative to 1200kwh/year) if I decide to heat with heat pumps and a form of electric hot water along with an electric car.

..but define usage. Over the past 6 months I've captured 2330kwh from the 3.36kwh PV system on my roof. In other words I've used 18% of the power from my roof and the rest is coming in via checks from the power company. I've produced 5.5 times the amount of energy I used. I need to find a way to consume more in a useful/non-wasteful fashion. An electric car isn't an affordable option yet, the purchase price is too high versus a sub-$3k car that's EPA rated for 70mpg highway to make financial or practical sense to buy one at this point.

We use about 990kW per month
(of course 14,000 lights at xmas time doesn't help)
3 people, 3500 sq/ feet
electric AC, water heater, dryer, but gas heat

Solar (5kW) output is 550kw per month

I'm around 16kW/hr per day here average, and times 30days, works out to approx 480kW/hr per month.

This is a 2000sq ft house with natural gas hydronic in-floor heating, natural gas hot water tank, electric cooking range, etc.

4 occupants, 3 washer loads (clothes dried to approx 70% dryness using electric dryer, etc.)...average activities in house.

Hi all, I am averaging around 130-140 kWh/month. But we only use electricity for appliances (PCs, dishwasher, washing machine (without dryer), vacuum cleaner, fridge+freezer), no heating and/or AC. Two people, two cats

Thats very impressive JimiQ.
