I ordered a 4x4 CNC plasma table

1 Attachment(s)
I did a fair amount of research looking at build /buy a CNC table. I was close to making one but in the end buying just made more since.
I would have had more money in building one.
I have a lot to learn just in software to use it. It will be about 8 weeks before I get it. They build to order and they just had a sale.

I am getting a water table to keep smoke down and warping to a Min. It has torch height control.
I will be using my new plasma cutter on it. I will have to buy a CNC port board and a machine torch.

Delusional Designs
https://www.delusionaldesignscnc.com...ter_Table.html

I am not sure where our focus will be yet. I will be selling some stuff I cut but I would like to keep the finish and painting part to not much as this is a side business.
I am probably limited to ˝” and under cuts. I will add an extension to the table to all put a 4’x8’ sheet on the table. If we like doing this we will buy a table extension to expand this table to 4’x8’ table.

Daox 08-07-19 09:23 AM

Have you used it yet?

pinballlooking 08-07-19 04:02 PM

I actually canceled this one and I am going to order the next model up from this one that uses linear rails better software. It will let you continue from the spot you had a issue. I am going to get the 4 x 8 table as this one is harder to upgrade later. I was able to get a machine torch off Ebay that had been only used once for a killer price. That will help with some costs. But I have to buy a bigger ticket compressor.

Daox 08-07-19 04:35 PM

Sounds fun. Do you have lifting equipment? A 4x8 sheet of metal can weigh a lot.

dremd 08-07-19 04:46 PM

Sweet dude!
I have a 4x14 plasma cam setup with a Hypertherm Powermax 45 on it.
What cutter are you planning on running?

If there’s anything you think I might know feel free to hit me up, but as I’m sure you already know Jim Colt is THE authority on small CBC plasma setups.

dremd 08-07-19 04:49 PM

I see you are interested in a water table, unless where you are venting to is smoke critical I wouldn’t. I had a water tank in mine and ended up pulling it out because it was a pain to clean and only helped so much.

My subcompact tractor has quick attach pallet forks. It can lift the steel. I also have a hydraulic lift table that I move pinball machines around with that can lift 1,000 pounds.

pinballlooking 08-07-19 05:17 PM

Yes I getting a water table. The new one I am ordering will come fully assembled. I have a thermodynamics 60i I just bought a 50' machine torch for it.

What do you mostly cut with yours?

dremd 08-07-19 05:30 PM

Originally I cut 20, 16, and 12 ga steel.
Now it spends its days cutting.040 ,080, .125 aluminum mainly in 5052

Typically daily cut time is only around 2 hours with run time closer to 2.5 hours. Typically 5 days a week, but that varies by season.

Do you cut parts? Maybe art stuff?

This is the table I ordered. It is going to ship in a couple weeks.
https://ecorenovator.org/forum/attac...1&d=1567780016

I just got my new USA made compressor. 19 CFM it has a continuous run feature auto drain feature.
My tractor could not lift it so my neighbor let me use his 40 HP tractor.

https://ecorenovator.org/forum/attac...1&d=1567780016

I have a Harbor freight Air dryer ready to connect up.

Here I am still no table from Delusional Designs. I do not believe they will ever ship it.
I filled a dispute with my credit card company to get a refund.

I drove up to Ashville NC to Spark Robotic. To look at their tables and try one out. Very nicely built CNC plasma tables. I am looking at their X Series 4X8 table.
Their gantry is length wise so you can put the table up against the wall. It has steel storage under the table. Their torch Hight control is excellent and the software is simpler to use. It ha proximity sensors for the torch.
I am going to get this one instead it is fully welded and I can drive up and get it when it is ready for me.

The credit card company gave me a temp credit. It will become permanent after the 15 Dec. Credit card case will just time out in my favor because he will not respond to the case.
But the money was taken from his account. I transferred my temp credit to my checking and use some of that money to buy this one. This should work out in the end.

On Friday exactly 4 weeks from when they said it would be ready, I picked it up.
I did training at their site on Friday I cut out many parts designed a part and cut it out. I practice if it stopped in the middle of the cut and restarted it.
Here is a picture of aluminum that I cut out. This is straight off the table no clean up at all.

It weights almost 2K pounds. I used my car lift to take it off my trailer.
I still need to clean out the spot where it will reside and get power and my new compressor connected up. I still did some.
I really need to learn CAD I have been working with Fusion 360. It is exciting for it to be finally here.

I finally have a spot cleaned out to put my plasma table. I still need to wire my new compressor and run its air lines. I wanted to be able to load the table with my tractor. This location should allow me to do this.

I bought a Dake Johnson JH 10 bandsaw. It needs some clean up and the 1 hp motor is three phase. I am replacing the 1 HP motor with a 1 phase 1 HP motor.
Man, this thing is heavy about 900 pounds. I was considering getting harbor Freight bandsaw but I decided to go old school. It takes a 1" blade I will have to order one. I got it for $325 hopefully it will not take to many parts to get top notch cuts again.

https://ecorenovator.org/forum/attac...1&d=1577114597

They have been making a J or JH for over 81 years and still make it today.

Here the table cutting ˝” steel plate. I am making magnet holders for lifting steel plate with two 880 pound magnets to help load the table.
I need to level the table and I will be raising the water level once I level the table.

https://ecorenovator.org/forum/attac...1&d=1577980699

The 2" by 1/4 square tube will allow the magnets to be spread apart 4'.
Then it will go on my forks to make it for simpler loading thick steel plate.

WyrTwister 01-02-20 10:13 AM

Do you have to use an air dryer , on the compressed air going to the plasma cutter ?

My compressor has an auto drain on a timer. I made a copper air cooler with drain valves. Then that goes into an air dryer. Then a one-gallon desiccant dryer and a motor guard filter.
3/4" rapid Air connecting it all together.

https://ecorenovator.org/forum/attac...1&d=1577984629

https://ecorenovator.org/forum/attac...1&d=1577984629

The dryer the air the better the cut and the longer consumables last.

I may add a air cooler at the compressor after the pump before it enters the compressor. I am going to wait to see if I think it is needed.

WyrTwister 01-02-20 11:25 AM

How warm is the air , after it leaves the copper coil ? Winter ? Summer

Wyr
God bless

pinballlooking 01-02-20 11:39 AM

The compressor is 80 gallons Emax I just got it powered up the other day.
I don’t know the temps yet with this new setup for my plasma table.

Out of the compressor is 3/4 black iron pipe. That goes to the copper.

My 3/4 regulator seems to react to slow. I think I need a better one.

I will be checking the temperatures. It is cold right now but summer heat I am sure I will make lots of water.

WyrTwister 01-03-20 07:35 AM

I was thinking , if the discharge temperature gets up , you might put a box fan blowing on the copper coil ?

What I see people doing is adding a transmission cooler after the pump. Set it up to use the compressor fan to draw air through it.
Kind of like this.

https://ecorenovator.org/forum/attac...1&d=1578066314

I had a auto drain to do this but the one they sent me just did not work.
I am sending it back today.
Does anyone know a good one?

WyrTwister 01-03-20 11:03 AM

A transmission cooler would be a good idea if it is rated for the pressure .

That looks like some pretty heavy stuff!

pinballlooking 01-07-20 01:27 PM

The most it will be lifting is ˝” plate about 653 pounds.
My tractor just lifted 3/8” plate about 500 pounds.

I checked my hydraulic pressure and mine was low on my tractor I bumped it up and it was able the lift the 3/8 plate.

pinballlooking 01-07-20 02:09 PM

1 Attachment(s)
Here is the first part I cut out the 3/8” but I used a new cam software so I could start the cut from the center of the 30MM Circle (lead in).

But it made my 30mm holes cut 28mm the kerf width is not right. That is what the torch cuts out like a blade width. Once I have that adjusted, they will be back to 30mm.

About a year ago I made a quick connect for my backhoe. I have use it on many projects and it works well. At that time, I was cutting everything with a Porta band saw.

Now I have a 4x8 CNC plasma table a mag drill… I am making a new QC for my backhoe. I plan on selling these Quick connects. I almost have it ready.

I have the Jig for welding the sides up done. This is made out of 3/8" plate steel.
I am using the plasma marking feature to mark where to drill and weld the sides.

It is very close to being ready to reproduce. It will not be a high-volume item. You have to have a CB65 backhoe and more than one attachment.
I think next up will be a root ripper. A reason for getting my QC.

https://ecorenovator.org/forum/attac...1&d=1580149929

This allows you to change out backhoe attachments in usually under 60 seconds.

I changed my band-saw from 3 phase over to 120 volts. I ordered an over current and motor controller all in one. New 1HP 120 Volt motor.
I put all new blade bearings and bearing bushings on it. New blade new belt new belt and blade cleaner brushes

On the old controller cover I used my plasma table to cut out a place for the switch.
Tomorrow I will adjust the blade.
https://ecorenovator.org/forum/attac...1&d=1580274578

I worked on the bandsaw again tonight.
I added a shunt to the motor controller. This is an item that snaps to the side of the motor controlled. When it gets energize it turns off the switch.

The motor controller feeds power to the shunt then there is a switch that closes when the saw finishing cutting. So this is a self-collapsing cricket.

The saw completes the cut and I shuts its off. Them you must turn the motor controller back on to start cutting again. (It worked similar to this from the factory but I totally gutted and reworked it for 120 volts.)

I had to change the motor wiring to make it run CW and flip the blade inside out to make the rake got the right direction.
It is cutting good right now. I still need to do a few things but I can use it now.

I now have a root ripper for sale. I call it the Hammerhead.
This one is made with 1/2” steel plate.

4' x 8' 1/2" plate was 654 pounds.
My tractor could just handle this.

I am trying to get my powder coating setup. I sold my first quick connect and root ripper they will ship next week.

My CNC plasma table is paid for with profit. Over ˝ of all the equipment I bought is paid for with profit.
Hopefully the rest will be paid for this summer.

My oldest son is working with me on making products.
He is going to use the money for college.
He is running CNC plasma table dimpling steps bending them in press brake.
Sand blasting and powder coating them.
All good skills.
