Cleaning Mini Split indoor units
 

Looking for a way to clean them any experienced dozeedos and dozeedonts?

Best way I have found is compressed air nozzle,

tape a big poly bag over it with shop vac sucking, blow it out with compressed air jet - even over a few weeks you would be surprised at the hughe amount of dust gets blown out.

This was a bit of a PIA, but what I got out was remarkable! My install is ~9' off Finished Floor, setting up a baker platform would have been advisable in after thought. I removed all plastic covers ( Note to self when installing these units do this on the bench), only broke one small part.
Tried compressed air, vacuum both suck.

SO looking at a water base cleaner, Inner drain can handle most of the flush, check drain clear and free. Ok 6'x8' plastic tarp, taped to wall behind unit, and wrapping sides. disconnect electronics/ low voltage feed. tape and protect with plastic. Sprayed with off the shelf evaporator cleaner, waited 10 minutes (not acid based), filled my pump sprayer with water and started spraying from the bottom. TONS OF MICRO dust. After doing this it will become one of my yearly things to do.

Xman Thanks......This is my first mini split, installed for 4 yrs. BTW, parts of my space is still in renovation not to mention the amount of construction in my general area, (45 units in spitting distance, urban life) so airborne stuff is every where. I am learning by DustStorm. I do the filters twice a year! As you documented. I like the additional sealing! snap fit injection molded plastic has issues with air infiltration. regards K

We get dirty air here too. Sometimes it's really humid and water droplets fly out of the vent.
Those mist droplets contain very fine dust (not stopped by the filter).
As they dry up, they leave brown 'water' marks, just inside the output vent.
I use a wet toothbrush to clean them and wrap it with cloth to dry it up any soap.
I do mine about once a year, or when they start to look dirty.
