MrCool DIY mini-splits?
Anyone seen these yet?

looks like another shinco or gree recycled design. These units are skowly gaining popularity in the USA. I clicked on your link and saw they have inverter models also. They are stealing the "hyper-heat" buzzword from Mitsubishi.

I wonder if they work as easily as advertised? Is it just a special lineset or is the unit different then a typical minisplit too? Pretty cool stuff.

IIRC, the last company that sold this pre-charged rigs, didn't last.
Looking at the picture above, it's a special lineset. It likely mates to a special connection on the indoor and out door units.. I didn't read the manual yet, but it seems like the indoor unit would also need to be pre-charged.. Seems like a lot of things/gizmos that could host a visit from Murphy.. Looks like the SEER of these units aren't that good.. :( But, I do like the whole idea of not needing to call some guy with a R410a license, who has never installed a mini-split in his life, to put the finishing touches on your new system.. |
The line-set does come pre-connected to the indoor unit..

Stick with a name brand. It makes it hard to get a nice install the way they do it and the copper/aluminum coils are typically poor quality anyway

Anyone needing to get the 1st level EPA card ( small equipment ) , email me off list .
I would be suspicious of the " special " line set . I would be concerned it would be more prone to leaks ? God bless Wyr |

Yeah, I believe the pre-loaded lineset idea didn't work very well the last time we saw it on the market. So, yeah suspicion is warranted. However, if this company keeps the product line for 5 years, maybe they hit on a good method.. |
