Neat recycled pallet book shelves

I found this quite interesting while surfing today. It doesn't get much easier and its not hard to find pallets...

That is so very cool.

Nice! that's a great idea! How about putting a little epoxy filler or bondo on those holes and gaps? By the way, what wood was used? I wonder how'd it look like if it was coated with the paint that gives a little color but still shows some wood grain..

I'm not sure what kind of wood most pallets are made of. I'm sure you could take it all apart and refinish it however you like though.

Pallets are made with the cheapest wood possible, I've never seen good wood grain and pallets and often they are cracked and split from the abuse they get while being moved around with forklifts.

I ran into this while searching for the type of wood used in pallets but didn't actually come up with what wood is usually used but thought most of this was pretty cool.

I checked out a local furniture store down the main road going to the bay...apparently they buy the old pallets from the cargo forwarders in the port and make them into furniture..the grain looks kinda okay....they use pinewood which is more popularly known as "palochina" here...looks quite good and definitely a lot cheaper than hardwood! Now all I need is to practice my woodworking skills on some used pallets and make some stuff.

Here's what you can do with a pinewood (palochina) pallet...(from a buy/sell site in PH)

Looks like creativity is our only limitation when it comes to this
