Mini split install
5 Attachment(s)
Finally done with the install. I hired a co-worker's friend to finish up the fujitsu and I installed the Shinco unit.
|
I installed a TED 5000 to monitor my solar panel and usage. I also installed Efergy elite to monitor both mini split system.
I made a little fan system (using 6 - 5cm computer fans) to push air to my bedrooms during daytime. I use the Shinco installed in my bedroom at night. |
A special thanks to Xringer for his post and answer some of my questions, otherwise, I won't be able to finish the install.

Wow! Thanks for posting. Nice looking system. Congrads!!
Be sure to post a report on the cold weather performance. Did you take any pics of the indoor unit? I've not seen any installs of those types of mini- splits.. Cheers, Rich |

the past few nights, the temp drop down to the 30s/40s.. so far I have both systems running at around 68 deg. the ave usage is about 15 KWH per day.. The spike was about 1.5 KWH (fujistu 24k unit) when I turn up the heat. The outside unit is so quiet, It is barely noticeable.
Now I set the fujitsu unit to economy mode, which suppose to reduce the spike even more. It just takes longer to reach the set temp. |
Looks like a nice clean install, congrats. :)
I'm also interested in your computer fan setup. Can you get some pictures of that? |

I got the housing from HomeDepot.
The fans are either 5 or 6cm.. They are made by delta.. move a lot of air and quiet. I just glued and wired in parallel to a UL list 12v hard drive power supply off ebay. I wired it in a wall timer switch. |
How do you know what to set the timer switch for?
|
I just leave the fan on for 4hr to 5hr (bedroom unit set to low 60s)before I go to sleep . I leave the living unit in sleep mode (fan off) and turn up the bedroom unit to heat the rest of the bedrooms when I go to sleep.
I am not sure if I need fan for the bedroom yet.. have to see how the heated air travel thru out the room. |
